Community Builders Foundation is a US-based corporation dedicated to helping the aging population remain comfortably and safely in their own homes and as part of their own community as long as possible. We are a group of builders and others instead of a foundation and others committed to helping seniors in our communities.
We feel this builds a stronger community and includes seniors who often get pushed out of their community to their detriment and the detriment of the entire community. Our seniors have so much to offer their community, especially to our children. We can all benefit from a closer-knit neighborhood.
Problems Affecting
the Aging Population
There are many reasons that seniors are forced to leave their homes sooner than they want to, leaving behind a lifetime of memories.
The first thing we might think of is that they need ramps and grab bars, but we have seen so many other things cause this that most people might overlook. It could be a maintenance issue like painting or landscape maintenance. It could be financial, needing a meal dropped off, needing transportation, or just simply not having someone look after them and have a conversation. Our founder’s dad was forced to move out of his home simply because he didn’t have the resources to build a walk-in shower. Despite the family wholly supporting him, he felt like a total burden to his family. This was the spark that spurred this group's forming to help other seniors maintain their autonomy and self-dignity.
Upholding the
Creativity of Builders
The building industry, in general, is such a strong resource that working as a team could accomplish so much. We also believe and have seen that builders are some of the most creative people.
In the cyber world that we live in, most people do not create something. We all need lawyers and computer experts, but builders are still building and making something. There are a lot of benefits that come from the builders. Also, people willing to come together to help some of the most vulnerable in our communities don’t have the support needed at times.
